I met this drag performer at a ballroom organized by the National Ballet of Marseille. She’s wearing a dress made of Toile de Jouy, a cloth originally created in India then introduced in France during the 18th century. Its subverted reuse allows for the representation of a new type of individual born from the hybridization of cultures.
