Statement

I make large oil paintings of people I know, people I love, and ordinary situations that I witnessed. 
I do believe that our lives, as much as objects, can be works of art. Therefore I want to pay tribute to the people who embody some kind of resistance to the norms - both moral and intellectual - and find themselves marginalized because of it. 

The Renaissance’s visual language is the one of the myths that have shaped our imagination as Occidentals (perception of beauty, romantic love, religion, or even gender identity) and I’m using its representation codes as a way to keep rewriting these myths, to make them meet today’s shifting reality. 

In the ongoing cultural battle, I hope these portraits and genre scenes could help to enable these very lives to be better acknowledged.
